At 25, Andrea Polk has accomplished a feat
many people only dream of. Not only does
she have her own business, but it's a successful
one. As the owner of Adonis Body Care, an
all-natural skin care line for African-American
men, Andrea has developed a loyal international
clientele among a group that, in the world
of cosmetics, goes underserved.
"I used to sell Mary Kay, and I found
that a lot of the men were using their wife's
or girlfriend's products on their skin,"
Andrea says. "I realized that there
were not a lot of skin care lines out there
for African-American men, especially natural
ones. I figured that something needed to
be done about it."
Her hunch has proven to be worth its weight
in gold. Thanks to top-selling products
including the Facial Moisturizer/Beard Softener
and Mint Facial Mask, this reasonably priced
skin care system is available in barbershops,
spas and men's clothing lines across the
country.
"I think people like the products for
a few reasons," Andrea says. "African-American
skin tends to respond better to natural
